Vols Honor Eric Berry During Vandy Game

14-Eric-Berry-(1)NASHVILLE, Tenn. – An overwhelmingly pro-Tennessee crowd had a nice tribute to former Vol Eric Berry at the end of the first quarter against Vanderbilt.

The crowd started an “Eric Berry” chant, reminiscent of what UT crowds used to do when Berry was a star defensive back for the Vols from 2007-09. Berry was placed on the non-football injury list by the Kansas City Chiefs this week when a mass was found on his chest that is feared to be a sign of lymphoma.

“We’re one family and we’re all Vols for life,” said coach Butch Jones after the game. “Eric is very, very special to us. He continues to be in our thoughts and prayers and the entire Berry family and Evan and Elliott and Vol Nation as well. I thought that was class and that family is very special to us and we stick together in good times and in adverse situations. That’s what a family is all about and they’re obviously in our family.”

The Vols also honored Berry, who has twin younger brother, Evan and Elliott Berry, that play on the team, with a decal on their helmets:
