A few future Vols are still playing in the high school playoffs and we’ve rounded up some stats and notes. As generally is the case with high school statistics, consider them unofficial since they were gathered from various local sources.
ATH Vincent Perry: Perry had yet another big performance as Hillsboro knocked off Ridgeway to move on to the 5A finals. Perry had 106 yards and two touchdowns rushing, including a 59-yard run in the fourth quarter that helped put the game away. He added three catches for 31 yards as well. DE Dylan Jackson: Jackson forced a big fourth-quarter safety to help secure Maryville’s 26-14 semifinals win over Oakland. (via The Tennessean)
TE Kyle Oliver and OL Jack Jones: Oakland’s season came to an end against Maryville.
DE Andrew Butcher: Butcher was named the Defensive Player of the Year in Region 6AAAAAA in Georgia for the season.
DT Quay Picou and LB Austin Smith: Buford’s defense continues to dominate. The Wolves shut down Marist in the state quarterfinals by a final of 30-6.
ATH Micah Abernathy: Abernathy had 186 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries to lead Greater Atlanta Christian to a 34-22 win over Vidalia in the quarterfinals.
CB Darrell Miller: Miller’s Cedar Hill team plays Abilene in the quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon.
