5 Reasons Vol Fans Should Be Thankful

Butch Jones-2

Jones, more than anyone, is responsible for the previous four reasons to be thankful. He’s a tireless worker and recruiter. He’s a systematic promoter of the program. Last season, he led the Vols off the impending APR cliff by recording a perfect 1000 score in the spring; a score which kept the program from losing future scholarships and postseason eligibility. He’s handled any off-the-field issues swiftly and appropriately.

Has he made some questionable decisions along the way? Sure. Does his coach speak get tiresome at times? Of course. But he has the Vols improving on the field and has stabilized the program as a whole behind the scenes.

Your Tennessee Volunteers are on the cusp of their first bowl berth in four years. With a victory Saturday, Tennessee will have a chance to win their first bowl game since the 2008 Outback Bowl (which followed the 2007 season).

If we’ve learned anything this year, it’s that Butch Jones’ teams play extremely hard for him and just don’t quit. You can bet that he’ll have the Vols ready to take a tangible step forward this weekend.

And that, Vol fans, is a reason to be thankful.
