4. Tennessee vs. Miami, Taxslayer Bowl (Jacksonville, Fla.)
The Vols and Hurricanes have some history as well. The two traditional powers have met three times, once in the ’86 Sugar Bowl, when the ‘Sugar Vols’ had a surprising beat down of the ‘Canes in a 35-7 victory. Miami got some payback in 2002 when a loaded squad came up to Knoxville and beat Tennessee 26-3. But one year later, the Vols went to Miami and ended the ‘Canes home winning streak, which was the longest in the nation at that point, in a surprising 10-6 outcome. These programs have struggled to find their way in recent years, but both are optimistic that they’re heading in the right direction.
