Joshua Dobbs-1-2

 Quarterbacks

Daniel: He just keeps doing it. We’ll learn even more about Joshua Dobbs next week against Missouri, but he’s passed every test he’s faced with flying colors. He was impressive again against Kentucky, completing 19-of-27 passes for 297 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions and he took just one sack. He added 48 yards and a touchdown on the ground as well. Sure, there are a few throws he’d like to have back, but this offense can afford some incompletions as long as they don’t turn into interceptions. Ball security was my only knock on him at SC, and I have virtually nothing to critique him on this game. I think he’ll keep getting better and better and next week against Missouri will be a great test for how far he’s come already. Grade: A+

Houston: 19-of-27 for 297 and three scores in only three quarters of action is an elite night. Add in another 48 yards and a touchdown on the ground and there is little to complain about with Joshua Dobbs’ performance. If you have to nitpick, however, Dobbs did miss a couple of open throws that, had they been completed, would have made his night even more impressive. It’s scary to think how good Dobbs could be if he continues to progress in the way that he has to this point. He is already getting some early Heisman talk for 2015 by national pundits, and, at this point, who could blame them? Tennessee has their quarterback of the future, he’s playing great football and this team believes in him. That’s a dangerous combination. Grade: A+

Reed: Another game, another A+ for Joshua Dobbs (just like the rest of his life). This was the first game in which Dobbs played more than a half that he didn’t turn the football over. That’s a fantastic sign for Tennessee moving forward. He’s always going to make plays (when healthy), so ball security has been the biggest concern with him. After 3 games, Dobbs is averaging 360 yards of offense – 1st in the SEC. Even more impressive – he played every drive for the Vols in just one of those (South Carolina). Grade: A+
