Where Tennessee Stands
The vibe on Phillips is that Tennessee may currently be slightly behind LSU and Ole Miss, but that hasn’t stopped the Vol coaching staff from making sure he knows how crucial he is to this class. Tommy Thigpen went and watched Phillips play over the bye week and spent some time with the talented defensive end. Phillips has visited Tennessee five times over the last eight months, so it is obvious that he has some serious interest in the Vols. The key will be his official visit later this year and whether or not Butch Jones and company can convince him to play for the home-state school.
