But enough about the D. Let’s switch over to the offense. Yes, Team 118 has had its struggles on the ground (we’ll come back to that in a bit), but they’ve had anything but through the air. At least according to the statistics. Last year, the Vols averaged 164.9 yards per game through the air. This year, they’re gaining nearly 63 more per contest at 227.5. Pretty impressive, especially when you consider the challenges up front, not to mention the fact that Josh Smith has been on the shelf for most of the season.

But that’s what happens when you have returning players like Pig Howard and Marquez North. And that’s also what happens when you add talented threats like Josh Malone and Von Pearson to the mix. Oh, and Ethan Wolf is working out. He’s already accounted for more yards this season that the entire tight end position accounted for last year.
