3. Butch could be a tough sell to some at Michigan
Butch has clearly done some good things at Tennessee. Most are proud of the progress that the program is making. But his record won’t be impressive enough to sell to the fan base. His best-case scenario for a record at Tennessee throw two seasons is 13-12 with a low-quality bowl game appearance. And that’s a stretch at this point. There’s a decent chance he’ll be a sub-.500 coach at Tennessee through two years, and though it’s been an incredibly tough rebuilding job, that’s still tough to sell to fans, boosters and administrators that are looking for a savior for the program.
