In keeping with the recruiting theme this evening, Butch Jones sent out a tweet during Monday Night Football that included an image of a new billboard featuring current Volunteer players from the greater Nashville area. The billboard shows a group of Tennessee players – all members the Vols’ 2014 recruiting class – and includes the line, “The Mid-State Stars: Giving Their All for Tennessee.”
The billboard is an obvious recruiting pitch to the mid-state that Butch Jones and the Vols’ current staff are seriously committed to locking down the state of Tennessee on the recruiting trail. The current players featured on the billboard are freshmen Jashon Robertson, Derek Barnett, Vic Wharton, Jalen Hurd, Michael Sawyers, Josh Malone, Rashaan Gaulden and Aaron Medley.
I’m sure this is exactly what new Vanderbilt coach, Derek Mason, was hoping for after a rough start to the 2014 season.

Butch Jones also received a mention from Jon Gruden during the second quarter of Monday Night Football’s broadcast when Pittsburgh’s Antonio Brown threw a touchdown pass. Brown played for Jones at Central Michigan.
