No. 14 Kansas State @ No. 11 Oklahoma (-8) TV: ESPN 12 pm Saturday
Daniel: We’ll find out over the course of the next few games how legitimate Kansas State is. The Wildcats gave Auburn a scare a few weeks back, but haven’t played anybody else of note. Now they get Oklahoma, Texas, Oklahoma State and TCU, all in a row. Oklahoma, meanwhile, got an unconvincing win over Texas in the Red River Rivalry last week, but that still helped get the Sooners back on track after a close loss at TCU in the previous game. Quarterback Trevor Knight needs to start making better decisions if OU is going to take care of business in this one. His 6/5 TD-to-INT ratio isn’t very impressive. If he can take care of the ball, I think Oklahoma at home has the overall edge in this one, though KSU’s defense will make it difficult. Winner: Oklahoma 35-28
Houston: Oklahoma hasn’t played particularly well over the last two weeks, going 1-1 in the process with a four-point loss to TCU and a five-point win over Texas. The question for this game is simple: Which Oklahoma team shows up? I think Kansas State will come into this one well-prepared, but ultimately I don’t think that they will have enough offensive firepower to overcome the Sooners on their home turf in this one. I think Trevor Knight has a big day in the vertical passing game to set up the run and the Sooner defense makes the plays that they haven’t been making in recent weeks. Winner: OU 31-21
Reed: There’s not a better coach in the nation at maximizing talent than KSU’s Bill Snyder. They narrowly lost to Auburn earlier this year and, if they can knock off Oklahoma this weekend, will be in the hunt for a berth in the College Football Playoff. Something tells me Snyder has some magic up his sleeves this weekend. Their defense has been better than Oklahoma’s the last few weeks and the Sooner offense is really struggling. Wildcats in a close one. Winner: Snyder 30-28
Kevin: History says take Oklahoma, they had a terrible offensive day against Texas last week and still managed to win convincingly thanks to defensive and special teams contributions to the scoreboard. Kansas State is 3-0 against the spread in their last three games after beating Texas Tech 45-13 two weeks ago, covering as two-touchdown favorites. Oklahoma, however, still exists in a world where things just go their way. Tennessee fans currently would kill one, if not two relatives to get back to that place. Take the Sooners and watch a more entertaining SEC game. Winner: Oklahoma 45–27
