No. 4 Oklahoma (-6) @ No. 25 TCU TV: FOX 3:30pm Saturday
Daniel: We’ve heard Tennessee assistant coaches from time to time tell scholarship players that they’re “stealing from the University” when they are underperforming in practice. This one is stealing from Vegas. Yes, TCU’s defense looks great on paper. But Oklahoma is going to take that paper and rip it up this weekend. The Sooners are too balanced, deep and experience for Gary Patterson to stop them. TCU won’t make it easy for them at home and will put some points on the board, but I’ve got Oklahoma winning and covering in this one. Winner: Oklahoma 38-24
Houston: I am stunned by this line. Oklahoma is playing some of the best football in the nation right now and has already gone on the road in Morgantown – against a better team in my opinion – and come back with an impressive victory over a talented West Virginia squad. Oklahoma’s balance on offense and dynamic defense will be way too much for the Horned Frogs in this one. I expect OU to make a statement in this one in all three phases of the game. Winner: Sooners 41-23
Reed: Here’s some more free money from Vegas this week. I like TCU, but there’s no way Oklahoma doesn’t win this game by at least a touchdown. As the Vols know, the Sooner front-7 may be the best in the nation. Yes TCU leads the Big 12 in total defense and is top-3 in total offense, but they haven’t been tested this year. Oklahoma’s balanced attack will score enough to win this one and their defense will make enough plays to slow down TCU’s offensive attack. Freshman running back Samaje Perine looks like a star in the making and should have another big game. Winner: Sooners 34-20
Chad: Naturally I’m a numbers guy, as if you can’t tell, so when I look at these two teams there’s quite the discrepancy between the two on offense and defense. It literally comes down to TCU slowing down the uptempo offense of Oklahoma’s. Oklahoma has the ability to exploit you in the run with Samajae Perine, who is taking the place of injured Keith Ford, or they will pick you apart in the quick pass game. That said, TCU runs the 4-2-5 defensive set almost to perfection and that will allow the Horned Frogs to keep the Sooners at bay. I’m still not sure if I can pick against the Sooners but Trevone Boykin looks to be on fire this season spreading the ball around effectively. I’m going with the “upset” here.Winner: Horned Frogs 44-35*
*NOTE: I do NOT like Big Mouth Bob and will pick any team that he plays against. Have a nice day!
