Safety Todd Kelly Jr.
A full-time starting job at safety is his for the taking. Yes, he’s technically already started two games, but he’s split a lot of the reps with junior LaDarrell McNeil. McNeil may be the safer option overall with his experience and knowledge of the defense, but Kelly is clearly the future of that position and the coaching staff would like to see that future come sooner than later. He’s had a few busts in coverage, though he’s also shown major flashes of potential and he almost came down with what would’ve been a huge interception on the first drive at Oklahoma. He’s got more range than McNeil and gives the secondary its best chance at being successful later this season.
