No. 15 Ole Miss (-20) @ Vanderbilt TV: ESPN 4:30pm Saturday
Daniel: Nice to have an easier one. If Temple’s defense annihilated Vanderbilt, what will Ole Miss be able to do? The Rebels looked really good on defense against Boise State, though, offensively, they made too many mistakes. This will be a good chance to iron some of those mistakes out against a Vandy team that just doesn’t look very good. The game will be held at LP Field in Nashville, though it’s very possible that the crowd will be more pro-Ole Miss than pro-Vandy. Winner: Ole Miss 41-10
Houston: A game that some predicted to be close before the season started now has all the makings of an old fashioned woodshed beatdown. Bo Wallace started slow but had a very strong second half last week against Boise State while compiling 387 passing yards and 4 touchdowns as he appeared to find his rhythm. Vanderbilt had a disastrous start to their 2014 season as they turned the football over seven times and gave up 351 yards of offense to a Temple team that finished 2-1o last season. I don’t think Vanderbilt is quite as bad as they looked against Temple, but they certainly aren’t good enough to beat Ole Miss. Winner: Rebels 38-20
Reed: Through one week, Vanderbilt’s offense has produced more interceptions (3) than points (zero). That’s not a good sign for Derek Mason’s squad headed into a matchup with a fast and physical Rebel defense. Ole Miss struggled against Boise in the first half last week but found their stride in the second half on the way to a convincing win. They outclass Vandy at every position and should leave Nashville with an easy victory. Winner: Ole Miss 42-7
Blake: One team started slow then exploded in the fourth quarter of week one. The other started slow then imploded. Ole Miss travels to LP Field this Saturday in what should be a pro Ole Miss crowd, even though the game is in Vanderbilt’s backyard. The touted Rebels defense proved to be worth the hype against Boise State. The Rebels swarmed to the ball, flattened ball carriers, and picked off four passes. This week they take on a Vanderbilt offense that didn’t score against a Temple team that won two games all of last season. Vanderbilt also turned the ball over seven times last week. Bo Wallace might not even have to take the field Saturday. Winner: Ole Miss 45-7
