Curt Maggitt-8

 3. Curt Maggitt

Shoutout to AJ. His decision to come back was a huge break for Team 118, as he made Team 117 a better one for sure. But how about Curt Maggitt? There’s a player who didn’t even play a single snap last year, yet also managed to make his team better.

The energy he brought his team, the positivity, the resolve, the leadership was on display each and every game, but never more prominently than the magical two-game stretch in October when Team 117 play its best ball. If you were in the house, odds are you saw it, but even if you didn’t, you definitely felt it.

For anyone else, it’d be mindboggling. A dude who’s never played a single down during a coach’s tenure somehow becomes a significant enough component of the team to become one of that coach’s very favorite players. But for Maggitt, it just makes sense.

It’s who he is. And this year, it doesn’t matter if he’s lined up with the backers or his hand’s in the dirt. He’ll be bringing that leadership when it counts most, and that will do nothing but benefit the Volunteers.
