Fall Camp: What We Know

Ethan Wolf

 Playmakers at Tight End

The addition of Ethan Wolf and Daniel Helm in the spring looks to have completely transformed the tight end position on this team. Both of them are working with the first team in varying capacities and possess game-changing talent that was absent from the position last season. They are big, strong, fast and while there are sure to be growing pains, they will improve as the season wears on.

With the addition of talent at receiver and running back, opposing defenses will have the propensity to overlook the tight end position early in the season, especially when it is occupied by two freshman who don’t appear on any film from the previous year. This is why Wolf and Helm could have such a huge impact on games early in the season.

They aren’t alone however, as Brendan Downs, A.J. Branisel and Alex Ellis have all stepped up this summer to provide depth and experience to a position that was short on both last year. This is a group that could see the majority of its snaps go to a number of players depending on a particular scheme or game plan, but one that certainly looks vastly improved over a year ago.
