Fall Camp: What We Know

Justin Worley Nate Peterman-1

 Worley is the Starter

Butch Jones announced at his press conference on Thursday that Justin Worley would be the Vols’ starter when they take the field against Utah State. All three of the quarterbacks – Worley, Nathan Peterman and Josh Dobbs – have shown flashes of solid play this camp, but the coaches felt most comfortable with Worley.

Peterman appears to be out in front of Dobbs in the race to be named as the backup, but regardless of who ultimately wins that spot, it is a competition that is likely to be ongoing. All it takes is for the light to turn on for someone and the depth chart at this position could be flip-flopped in a hurry. All three players have the talent to win at this level and Tennessee will be better at the position this year than they were in 2013 due to familiarity in the system and the addition of talent at receiver and tight end, it’s just a matter of finding the most consistent player.
