Earlier in the week we looked at five impressive summer enrollees who had a great first week of fall camp. Now it’s time to turn our attention to a few non-freshmen who have turned heads in camp so far.
Jordan Williams
Williams stands at 6-5, 285 pounds and put on 30 pounds this offseason in preparation for his move to defensive tackle. He primarily played defensive end last year, but saw some snaps at tackle in passing situations even though he was undersized for the position. While he’s still on the lighter side for an SEC defensive tackle, he makes up for it with his speed and athleticism. He’s had a very solid fall camp thus far and would start at DT if the season started tomorrow.
Quotable: “I like Jordan Williams. I think he has done a good job as far as keeping his weight up, allowing him to play inside. I think he will give us some real athleticsm inside. I think for him, he is getting comfortable.” – Vol DL coach Steve Stripling
